Autologous reconstruction methods using costal cartilage is the most widely accepted surgical repair technique currently used, however this involves donor-site pain and discomfort and relies on the artistic skill of the surgeon to create an aesthetic result. Using a unique scaffold, this technology allows for preserving the original shape of the implant after transplantation while using minimum synthetic components. This novel scaffolding could be of great growth potential once directed towards Rhinoplasty and other potential markets, specifically intervertebral discs and joints cartilage.
